Eli Chung is an artist who has dedicated her twenty years to her family. Yes, it’s her, the younger sister who protected her older sister as if she were a single entity alongside the artist adelhee, whom I already introduced. Since I met the two of them, they have always been a pair. Everyone refers to the two as the “Chung Sisters.”
Eli Chung, or “Little Chung,” stated that she majored in computer science at college. It’s not that she was particularly fond of science or that she possessed precognitive abilities; rather, her departed father predicted that the prospects would be beneficial.
According to the two sisters’ accounts, it appears as though the daughters of this household were extremely special to their sweet and honest father.
Eli was a fourth-year college student when adelhee was unable to avoid an accident. After that, she planned to enrol in ESMOD SEOUL and pursue fashion.
Eli, on the other hand, did not avoid her sister’s accident. No, her entire family was unable to flee.
“You just go study overseas,”
her father urged Eli.
She was concerned, however, that her adoring older sister might conjure up something horrible. adelhee only has to be present with her family, but she may be unaware.
As a result, Eli left ESMOD and abandoned her plans to study abroad, and she took over adelhee’s commute.
Her father fell ill after her sister was injured, and her mother became unwell again after he died. Twenty years passed in this way while she cared for her entire family alone.
Meanwhile, the number of family members to care for continues to expand. Once, her mother arrived one day with a kitty. That cat was their first, “Choco,” the heavenly cat never seen before or after.
A cat magneted a puppy, and the puppy attracted another cat, and so on, until the family grew to eight cats and two puppies. Seeing any animals, she stated, is quite fulfilling. She is constantly worried about going hungry and shivering at some other spot.
Not only Choco appeared to be an angelic cat, but also Eli appears to be a true angel.
I declared.
But, to be honest, she never considered it that way. She was unable to avoid it. Everything had to be that way, naturally. She had, no other alternatives.
Then, not long ago, an accident happened in the garden she had cultivated and nurtured. It was an occurrence that unfolded so quickly, almost intuitively, that she still struggles to make sense of what was exactly happening and how.
The entire family was horrified and felt guilty, but Eli was the most taken aback. As a result of that experience, she began to reflect herself and her life more closely.
Who looked after her personal life in the midst of continually caring for her family, the garden, and the cats and dogs?
Because she rarely speaks, people easily assume she has nothing to yearn for or anything to be furious about.
However, the artist’s hands reached for the tiniest size stylish two-piece she wore as a youngster, decorated with rainbow-colored zippers. One, two, three, then additional, additional, additional.
“That is true; I used to aspire to be a designer.”
Their ailing mother frequently bruises food like a mischievous child and turns Eli’s stomach inside out with reckless comments. However, she is the person who brought Choco to the Chung sisters, and also in charge of a vital axis in this female household.
That mother once yelled at Eli,
“That was a CHOICE MADE BY YOU!”
And the accident took place on the same day.
Those torturous and harsh words could not have been intended to convey the guilt and pity felt by a person responsible for the well-being of an entire family, because words could not contain them all. Mother had no idea it would result in such a severe injury to Eli.
Or perhaps the scathing statements reflected the truth about Eli and this family.
Little Chung stated that she grew confused after being furious with her mother for ignoring her own dedication and sacrifice for the family.
She doubted herself.
‘As mom stated, regardless of how expensive or unreliable the carers were, I would have been able to escape from these family responsibilities if I desired.
However, if that were the case, would adelhee still be alive standing by me?
How about my dad and mom?
I would have been the person who could not bear the awful outcome the most.
Then perhaps I WAS THE ONE WHO CHOSE this ideal life for myself to live.’
The thoughts ran parallel to one another. Her used-to-be sassy skirt suits grew increasingly impenetrable.
“I attempted to convey through ribbons the colorful experiences that I’ve got. Once in my twenties, I drew a picture of a smooth and glamorous future in my twenties, but my real life was packed with unforeseen surprises.”
She responded to my question.
I was impressed again by her humble use of the word “colorful.”
The rainbow colors are not only expressions of perplexing and difficult emotions, or previously unspoken feelings, but also of all the experiences that “enriched” the artist’s life and the good memories supplied by dogs and cats.
Additionally, the passion that had been neglected while working was revived, and the secret longing was reawakened.
Obviously, there were nasty people, resentful neighbors, and disappointing strangers in the beginning.
However, she was now left with only her own affection. She hopes to do something more drastic in the future, based on the inspiration she acquired during her first trial. For the restarting, it was just as “calm” as she was.
This is a “Hallelujah” moment, isn’t it?
The two sisters frequently state that they labor to provide food for the cats and dogs. The Big Chung teaches college, while the Little Chung teaches after-school classes in elementary and secondary schools. Each of them is an irregular worker.
Every time kittens are born in the garden, they frequently witness the miracle of an increase in the number of lectures and salaries. This is a rule that holds true in all circumstances, including the corona crisis.
Just by looking at, every lives are born with their own food to survive, they think. So, they are already full of fortune. Who “dare” calls them “stray” cats or dogs, then?
They are her genuine baby sisters and brothers who she raise with all heart. They are a perfect family, indeed, a loving family itself.
I see clear evidence here that love does not exist exclusively between men and women, or between biological parents and children.
Do you agree or not?
